Village of Glendale, Ohio Glendale Recruiting Volunteer Fire Fighters Application Period; Effective August 10, 2006 until further notice. Volunteer Positions Available: · Fire Fighters · Administrative and Supervisory Positions Minimum Qualifications; · 18 years of age · Valid Ohio driver’s license (CDL preferred by not required) · High School diploma or GED · Residency within a 3 mile radius of the Glendale Fire Station · Physically and mentally fit; able to meet department’s physical standards. · No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within 7 yrs. Expectations (of Duties); · Commitment to 40 hours per year of training (or provide evidence of training if working at another fire department). · Commitment to respond to a minimum of 1/3 of all Glendale dispatches. · Attend Certified Firefighter classes (36 hrs). · Attend Hazmat awareness classes (16 hrs). · Become NIMS 700 certified (internet course/test). · Attend in-house training to become CPR certified. · Commitment to Glendale Fire Department activities. Application Process · Complete and submit a Glendale Ohio application (may be obtained at the Village Office or online at the Glendale form download center http://www.glendaleohio.org/download.html . · Completion of written test. · Firefighter Physical Abilities Test . · Medical exam, to include pulmonary, cardiovascular and drug screen. · Fit Test/SCBA. · Subject to a background /reference check, psychological and polygraph screening. · All fire positions have a one year probationary period. Compensation · With the exception of the Chief’s position, all positions are voluntary and shall receive an allowance of $20/emergency run, $20/non-emergency run and $20 per training session. · Approved training expenses, uniforms and necessary equipment are paid for by the Village of Glendale.
