COLERAIN UNITS WORKING A HOUSE FIRE ON HARRISON AVE

2/4/07: While the cold temperatures have forced many Tri-state residents to stay indoors this weekend, it's not an option for local firefighters. As flames shot out of the roof a home in the 7300 block of Harrison Avenue, Colerain Township firefighters were forced to fight two battles -- one against the heat and the other against the cold. Water may have helped put out the fire, but with temperatures in the single-digits, the concern shifted to when that water turned into ice. Captain Steve Conn, of the Colerain Township fire department, said his firefighters also faced the danger of slipping on the ice while battling the fire. He said no one was injured though. Extra fire units and Metro buses were brought in to relieve the firefighters from the cold. The fire remains under investigation. (wcpo.com)
